Home-made Italian Flatbread (Piadina) with Cheese and Ham Recipe

How to make an Italian flatbread (piadina or piada) with cheese and ham.

Ingredients for 4 people

  • cheese : 400 g
  • ham : 400 g
  • piadina dough , here I explain how to make piadina.
  • a pinch of basil

Preparation:  

  •  For the recipe you can click here
  • Brush each circle with the extra-virgin olive oil and cook for 4 minutes each side.
  • Remove the piadina from the grill to cool slightly.
  • Fill each piadina with 1-2  slides of cheddar or emmental cheese.
  • Arrange 1-2 prosciutto slices on top of the cheese.
  • Cut each piadina into 8 wedges and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with the chopped basil.

Ingredients for flatbread with ricotta cheese and lemon zest

  • ricotta cheese : 250 gr.
  • lemon zest :  1 lemon
  • piadina dough

Preparation:

  • Instead of cheddar or emmental cheese, you can combine also the ricotta cheese and lemon zest in a small bowl.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Spread each piadina with 1/2 cup of the ricotta mixture.
  • Sprinkle the fontina cheese evenly over the ricotta cheese.
  • Arrange 2 slices of ham on top of the cheeses.
  • Cut each piadina into 8 wedges and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with the chopped basil.
