Home-made Italian Flatbread (Piadina) with Cheese and Ham Recipe
How to make an Italian flatbread (piadina or piada) with cheese and ham.
Ingredients for 4 people
- cheese : 400 g
- ham : 400 g
- piadina dough , here I explain how to make piadina.
- a pinch of basil
Preparation:
- For the recipe you can click here.
- Brush each circle with the extra-virgin olive oil and cook for 4 minutes each side.
- Remove the piadina from the grill to cool slightly.
- Fill each piadina with 1-2 slides of cheddar or emmental cheese.
- Arrange 1-2 prosciutto slices on top of the cheese.
- Cut each piadina into 8 wedges and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with the chopped basil.
Ingredients for flatbread with ricotta cheese and lemon zest
- ricotta cheese : 250 gr.
- lemon zest : 1 lemon
- piadina dough
Preparation:
- Instead of cheddar or emmental cheese, you can combine also the ricotta cheese and lemon zest in a small bowl.
- Season with salt and pepper. Spread each piadina with 1/2 cup of the ricotta mixture.
- Sprinkle the fontina cheese evenly over the ricotta cheese.
- Arrange 2 slices of ham on top of the cheeses.
- Cut each piadina into 8 wedges and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with the chopped basil.
