About me

Hi, my name is Alessandra, an Italian girl living in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, who likes to prepare delicious Italian recipes which are very simple to make and with great results.

When I moved to Ireland, I realized I didn’t know very much about food at all. In fact since then I have never prepared a real cake. I’d had those cakes from cake mixes or the ones that have a lot of baking powder in them. A really good Italian cake doesn’t have anything like that in it – it’s all egg power.

So, seven years ago I started to bake and cook what my mum and grandmother used to prepare at home. I don’t consider myself as a pastry chef, but now I have learned a certain amount about it. Again, I don’t consider myself a professional baker, though during these years I have learned how to do it. This is because I simply love food and the amazing things you can do with it.

A good friend of mine told me “If you have the exact ingredients, if you follow the instructions and if you are patient, you can do anything“. Then, bit by bit, you learn to cook so that you don’t have to be a slave to recipes. You get what’s in season and you know what to do with it. So this is my best advice to people: learn how to cook, try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun as I do: Always!
